Every autumn, the most anticipated Beitou celebration - the "2018 Taipei Hot Spring Festival" - enters its 17th year, becoming one of the biggest annual celebrations in Taipei and Beitou. To help the public better understand the charm and character of hot spring culture, the Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism annually supports Beitou hot spring operators in organizing the Taipei Hot Spring Festival, which will grandly open in the Beitou area from November 1-5. Event venues include Xinbeitou MRT Station Plaza, Qixing Street, Qixing Park, and Beitou Park. All the fun, food, and great deals from the Beitou hot spring area are gathered here - one visit to the Taipei Hot Spring Festival guarantees a rewarding experience!
The Department of Information and Tourism joined hands with the Taipei Hot Spring Development Association to promote Beitou hot springs and tourism, holding the "2018 Taipei Hot Spring Festival" unveiling press conference at Taipei City Hall first floor lobby today (24th) as a warm-up. The event featured 12 Beitou hot spring operators showcasing "Beitou One Shop One Dish - Chef's Special Bay Cuisine" for public tasting, adorable seafood dances performed by Beitou children, children's portable shrines and witch dolls on stage, along with the full reveal of this year's festival deals, inviting domestic and international tourists to visit Beitou during the event to enjoy famous springs, savor cuisine, and experience the most spectacular Taipei Hot Spring Festival.
This year's festival theme is "Famous Springs Bay Feast - Splash Blessing Festival." The Taipei Hot Spring Development Association has developed many new highlights, including Beitou One Shop One Dish Bay Cuisine, family splash water play area, hot spring promotional stalls, diverse stage performances, local cultural charity events, Flower Yukata Festival experience and parade, warmly inviting everyone to visit Beitou and feel the charm of "Taiwan's No. 1 Hot Spring."
Beyond the debut of Beitou One Shop One Dish chef's special bay cuisine, joint exhibitions by Beitou and Asia-Pacific hot spring operators, and specialty food stalls, this year's venue also features Ming Hwa Yuan's annual production, Nakashi Star PK Competition, outdoor cinema, and Beitou Music Feast performances. Japanese Yonezawa City's Hanagasa Dance, samurai performances, Matsuyama Dogo ink painting art, dynamic Awa Dance, and the Tsumire Band will also perform grandly, with Taiwanese and Japanese performing arts groups dancing together.
Continuing the creative spirit upheld over the years, the highly anticipated "Flower Yukata Design Awards" continues this year, gathering fashion design talents from across Taiwan to create fashionable yet practical beautiful flower yukata. The grand finals will be held on November 4 - everyone is welcome to appreciate the works and encourage fashion design talent.
Another festival highlight on November 3-4 features portable shrines, Earth God, Japanese and Asia-Pacific hot spring district representatives, and star mascots parading together, with Beitou's local adults and youth carrying portable shrines, chanting blessing slogans, creating a rich hot spring festival atmosphere. Additionally, this year features specially planned family splash water play and blessing areas, with large inflatable water pools and blessing springs where visitors of all ages can splash and play, families praying and enjoying together, with chances to receive the "Xinbeitou Hot Spring Limited Edition Kuai Kuai" snacks - this co-branded edition only appears in Beitou and limited locations during the 2018 Taipei Hot Spring Festival, in limited quantities, so collectors should seize the opportunity! This year's festival features over 60 hot spring and food vendors, with charity haircuts, blood drives, and park cleanups during the event, embodying the organizer's commitment to community care and environmental protection. Cultural tours in Chinese and English as well as free shuttle buses are arranged, welcoming domestic and international visitors to ride the free shuttles, listen to expert guides, and deeply experience Beitou's history and cultural character. This year, the organizer specially developed the "In Toward Beitou" APP for the festival - simply download it to stay informed about all festival and Beitou information. This edition also marks the first integration of LINE Pay, providing more convenient payment methods, hoping to use technology that matches mobile generation payment habits to boost spending in the Beitou hot spring area.
