Hot springs are most people's first impression, second impression, and third impression of Beitou - as if Beitou only has hot springs.
But actually, before or after soaking, take a little time to walk slowly along the mountain roads, and you'll see the most beautiful side of Beitou. Here you'll find Taiwan's most authentic Japanese-style architecture, the only remaining Japanese Shingon Buddhist temple in Taiwan, and the Hot Spring Guardian Guanyin that appears only once a year.
During the Japanese colonial era, Beitou was planned with public hot spring bathhouses, railways, train stations, and even a children's playground.
However, for a long time, these rich cultural landscapes were buried in overgrown wilderness.
Now, through Taipei City's Museum Without Walls initiative, they have finally been brought back to light.
