After more than a year of park renovation works, the Taipei Water Department announced that Beitou's Thermal Valley Park is now fully open to the public. Visitors can stroll along the newly constructed lakeside walkway and experience nature's steam spa. The opening ceremony was held on July 28.

The Taipei Water Department stated that, considering the domestic COVID-19 pandemic has eased and to deepen public knowledge of hot spring water resources and meet recreational needs, the long-awaited Thermal Valley Park has been unveiled with a brand-new look after more than a year of renovation, fully open to the public for free.

Regarding the Thermal Valley Park landscape renovation plan, the Taipei Water Department explained that it includes the reconstruction of the lakeside walkway and installation of hot spring experience facilities. The entrance feature - the Hand-Washing Mineral Spring - was designed to let visitors feel their first contact with the hot springs through their hands.

Additionally, there is a tilted Love Seat designed for couples to take memorable photos and warm up their romance. Visitors can then stroll around the newly constructed lakeside walkway, easily experiencing nature's steam spa. The surrounding area features landscaping and planting designs, presenting a fairyland-like new atmosphere.

The Taipei Water Department stated that to celebrate the Thermal Valley Park renovation transformation, the Taipei City Department of Commerce and Taipei Hot Spring Development Association also held the "Thermal Valley Park Landscape Renovation Opening Ceremony" on the evening of July 28. Park visiting hours were extended from the original 6:00 PM closing time to 7:30 PM that day. The public is welcome to join the celebration.

In accordance with current pandemic prevention measures, the Taipei Water Department reminded visitors that social distancing and personal hygiene protection should still be maintained when entering the park. Subsequent adjustments will be made according to the Central Epidemic Command Center and Taipei City Government pandemic prevention guidelines.

Thermal Valley, also known as "Hell Valley," covers approximately 3,500 square meters and is the highest-temperature natural hot spring outlet in the Datun volcanic group, with water temperatures ranging from approximately 65 to 80 degrees Celsius. It is a sulfate chloride spring and one of only two "green sulfur springs" in the world. Locals call it "Sulfur Water Head," and it is one of the sources of Beitou hot springs.

The Taipei Water Department noted that Thermal Valley is perpetually shrouded in sulfur mist. Its dreamlike scenery earned it the beautiful name "Jade Mist of Sulfur Springs" and was designated as one of the Eight Scenic Wonders and Twelve Famous Views of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period.
