Taipei City boasts rich and diverse tourism resources, and the autumn highlight "Taipei Hot Spring Festival" is an iconic celebration that showcases Taipei's international competitiveness. This year's Hot Spring Festival features not only the deepening of local culture with joint participation from Taipei's premier commercial districts, but also exchange representatives from hot spring cities across the Asia-Pacific region including Japan, Singapore, and Thailand, making the event a cross-border dialogue of culture and tourism.

This year, the Okinawa Chatan Town EISA Taiko Dance troupe from Japan was specially invited to perform at the opening. For this occasion, Mr. Satoru Okuhara, Representative Director of the DEPOT ISLAND Street Association (a general incorporated association in Okinawa), led the Eikuchi District Youth Association to perform together. The thunderous drum beats opened the press conference and revealed this year's Taipei Hot Spring Festival theme: "Okinawa Eisa Taiko Festival - Drumming Up Beitou Hot Spring Fun / Hot Spring Cuisine - Health & Wellness." The event will run for 5 consecutive days starting October 30 around Xinbeitou MRT Station, with diverse and colorful event programming expected to bring a different kind of vitality and character to 'Autumn Beitou.'

Chairperson Lin Chih-Yu of the Taipei Hot Spring Development Association stated at the press conference that this year's Taipei Hot Spring Festival aligns with the 2025-2026 Taiwan Hot Springs marketing theme of "Hot Spring Cuisine, Health & Wellness," once again promoting Beitou's green sulfur spring - one of only two sources worldwide - to hot spring enthusiasts. In addition to inviting the Okinawa Chatan Town Taiko Dance Festival performance troupe from Japan, the "Tatami Band" from Kyoto, the "Hanagasa Dance Troupe and Love Dance Warriors" from Yonezawa City in Yamagata Prefecture, and the "Namahage Taiko" from Oga City in Akita Prefecture, along with other Japanese commercial district and scenic area groups to join the festivities with traditional Japanese festival performances, local Beitou elementary and middle schools, community colleges, community groups, and temples will also participate in stage performances and street parade activities. The opening is planned for Thursday, October 30, with the Okinawa Eisa Taiko Dance troupe drumming up the ceremony in the afternoon. On the evening of October 31, families are invited to dress in Halloween costumes for an outdoor cinema event. Grand Taiwan-Japan street parades are scheduled for the morning of November 1 and afternoon of November 2. November 1 will also feature a flower yukata fashion show and Ming Hwa Yuan Ri Zi Theatre Troupe's classic opera "The Wishing Goddess." November 2 features Japanese anime characters and the YOYO Family show, plus nostalgic golden hits and Nakashi sing-along, with non-stop stage performances.
The press conference was completed with a traditional Japanese "Kagami Biraki" ceremony, witnessed by Director General Yu Hsiang of the Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism, Director Kao Chen-Yuan of the Taipei City Department of Commerce, and Beitou District Chief Wu Chung-Hsin, together with Japanese representative Mr. Satoru Okuhara. The venue also featured Chairperson Chang Wen-Wei of the Taipei Specialty Coffee Commercial Development Association sharing pour-over coffee with guests and media, while the Hot Spring Association invited members to display Beitou hot spring specialty souvenirs and event deals on-site.

The 2025 Taipei Hot Spring Festival brings together over 50 diverse joint exhibition stalls, featuring not only local Beitou hot spring deals and food vendors, but also participants from the Asia-Pacific Hot Spring Association including Japanese hot spring scenic areas and commercial districts. Rich content includes flower yukata Beitou stroll stamp collection lucky draws, charity blood donation drives, breast screening, the popular mini tatami DIY and mini drum DIY craft experiences, creative arts markets, and more. Visitors can conveniently use electronic payment at Hot Spring Festival stalls. During the event period, Beitou cultural guided tours and hot spring shuttle buses are also arranged, inviting the public and international tourists to deeply experience the unique characteristics of Beitou's hot spring scenic area, hoping everyone will take home wonderful memories and joy.
Event reminder: During the event period from October 28 to November 4, partial road closures will be implemented at designated time slots on some road sections, including Xinbeitou Qixing Street and Guangming Road. The Xinbeitou holiday bus route S39 will also be rerouted. Due to the large number of visitors, to avoid traffic congestion, we recommend visitors take public transportation. The organizer warmly welcomes everyone to participate in the "Taipei Hot Spring Festival" - come to Beitou in the autumn and winter season to enjoy famous hot springs, savor delicious food, watch performances, take advantage of deals, and experience the warmth and hospitality of Beitou while fully enjoying the charm of Beitou hot springs. Event details can be found on the "Xinbeitou Hot Springs" Facebook fan page, e-book, and event handbook.
