The "2025 Taipei Hot Spring Festival" launched from October 30 to November 3 around Xinbeitou MRT Station. This year's event features the theme "Okinawa Eisa Taiko Festival," with the Okinawa Chatan Town Taiko Dance Festival performance troupe from Japan specially invited as the main performers. Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-An personally attended the event launch ceremony, joining the crowd in experiencing the powerful and exhilarating rhythm and atmosphere of the Taiko dance.
The launch ceremony on the 30th officially kicked off amid the powerful drum beats of the Okinawa Eisa Taiko dance. The street parade procession included the "Mini Shrine" from Yifang Elementary School, the Hanagasa dance troupes from Yixian Elementary School and the Huashan Qin Society, as well as the distinctive lineup of YOYOMAN, YAMY, the Japanese cartoon IP "Pretty Cure," the Beitou Hot Spring mascot Wu Wa-Wa, and the Beitou Safety Nanny Police Doll. The interweaving sounds of drums, chanting, and sanshin (Okinawan three-stringed instrument) resonated above Beitou, injecting new vitality and a fresh image into Beitou tourism.
Deputy Director-General Huang Ho-Ting of the Tourism Administration, MOTC, stated in her address that "Beitou Hot Spring" combines natural landscape aesthetics, quality service, and high value, earning recognition from the "Taiwan Hot Springs Golden Spring Award" as a truly world-class hot spring tourism town. The Tourism Administration uses "Taiwan Hot Springs" as an important brand for international marketing of Taiwan's hot springs, now entering its 18th year. Centered on "Hot Spring Cuisine, Health & Wellness," it collaborates with all 19 major hot spring areas across Taiwan to launch the "Hot Spring Island Tour" campaign, encouraging people to hit the road and enjoy hot spring bathing anytime, making hot springs part of everyday life. "Beitou Hot Spring" is conveniently located near an MRT station, with Beitou Park, a library, and commercial districts, making it perfectly accessible for spontaneous visits. To promote sustainable development of the hot spring industry, the Tourism Administration continues to assist local governments and associations in organizing hot spring events, while encouraging accommodation operators to combine local characteristics, develop new products, and enhance overall tourism value and quality to attract more domestic and international tourists.
Mayor Chiang Wan-An stated in his address that the Taipei Hot Spring Festival gets better year after year, becoming a major annual event for Taipei and a city calling card that combines tourism, hospitality, and culture. The Mayor expressed special gratitude to the Taipei Hot Spring Development Association for building Beitou into an internationally renowned hot spring town, putting the "Taipei Hot Spring Festival" and Beitou on the world map. Mayor Chiang further noted that the Beitou Quanyuan Park free foot-soaking pool officially began trial operations on October 29, and in the future, the Beitou Park open-air hot spring bathing pool is expected to be completed by July of next year (2026), designed with comfort, safety, and hygiene at its core to provide a brand-new open-air hot spring bathing experience. All citizens are welcome to come and relax, experiencing the charm of hot springs.
Chairperson Lin Chih-Yu of the Taipei Hot Spring Development Association stated that he is grateful to the nearly 250 Japanese friends from 18 hot spring areas in Japan who came to Beitou to participate, making this year's event even more spectacular. In addition to Japanese cultural groups bringing Taiko dance, Hanagasa dance, Tatami Band performances, and other traditional festival and specialty performances, the event also features Ming Hwa Yuan classic opera, ballroom dancing charity performance, a Halloween family cinema, nostalgic golden hits night, Nakashi sing-along, Eastern Broadcasting YOYO Family performances, and the Beitou stamp collection lucky draw activities. Furthermore, over 50 Taiwan-Japan joint exhibition stalls are on-site, offering food, hot spring deals, and many other great offers.
The Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism stated that Beitou possesses abundant natural hot spring resources and a unique Japanese-influenced hot spring bathing culture. While attending the "Taipei Hot Spring Festival," visitors can also explore well-known attractions and commercial districts around Beitou, including Beitou Park, Beitou Library, Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Thermal Valley, and the Xinbeitou Hot Spring commercial district. Additionally, the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation has specially created signature music for the Beitou hot spring town at Xinbeitou MRT Station, playing hourly from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM in the station concourse. Starting November 1, the Xinbeitou branch line train carriages and Xinbeitou MRT Station platform will also synchronously play the signature music when trains arrive, offering passengers an immersive auditory travel experience. The Department pointed out that Beitou offers convenient transportation, and whether it's relaxing in hot springs, savoring mouth-watering local cuisine, capturing photos at popular check-in spots, or enjoying various travel deals, everything can be satisfied in one visit, making Beitou the top travel destination for domestic and international tourists. Through the "Taipei Hot Spring Festival," we hope to not only invigorate tourism and attract crowds, but also provide comfortable, safe, and enriching travel experiences, allowing Beitou's hot spring culture, natural landscapes, and cultural charm to be discovered by even more people.
The organizer reminds visitors that partial road closures will be implemented at designated time slots during the event period. Due to the large number of visitors, to avoid traffic congestion, we recommend taking public transportation to the event venue.
