Beitou Park, featuring a diverse ecological landscape spanning subtropical, warm temperate, temperate, and tropical zones, was established in 1913, during the late Meiji to early Taisho period of Japan. In its early years, the park contained several stone bridges, which were repeatedly rebuilt over the decades. Today, only one remains. The stone arch bridge technique was later replaced by reinforced concrete construction. The origins of stone arch bridge technology can be traced back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. After being introduced to Japan, many stone arch bridges were built in the Kyushu region, including the characteristic double-arch bridges known as "spectacle bridges" (Megane-bashi). This ancient bridge in Beitou Park, with its nostalgic charm set within the park's tranquil environment, remains unique in Taiwan — no other bridge of the same design has been found to date.
Hot spring water flowing downstream from the source passes through Beitou Park, where visitors can walk down the stone steps to soak their feet in the creek.
  • Transit: Take MRT to Xinbeitou Station; the park is diagonally across from the exit
