Pokemon Go Craze at Beitou Park: Commercial District Picks Up 100kg of Trash

Taipei\'s Beitou Park, rumored to spawn rare Pokemon creatures, drew massive crowds of players, causing not only illegal parking but also overflowing trash bins. The Taipei Hot Spring Development Association and multiple groups voluntarily organized a cleanup activity.

Before the launch of Pokemon Go in Taiwan, many visitors would relax at Beitou Park after enjoying a hot spring bath. However, after the game\'s launch, rare Pokemon like "Dragonite" and "Snorlax" frequently appeared here, drawing large crowds on weekday evenings and holidays, causing illegal parking that gave police headaches.

Besides illegal parking, trash bins overflowed with plastic bottles, utensils, tissue paper, and other items, causing significant disturbance to nearby residents and shops.

The Taipei Hot Spring Association, along with Beitou Chang\'an Village Chief Chen Chang-Sheng, Zhongxin Village Chief Chen Li-Chang, hot spring hotel operators, and Taipei Parks and Street Lights Office cleaning staff, voluntarily launched a "Clean Zone Activity," collecting nearly 100 kilograms of trash in one day.

Additionally, the Hot Spring Association arranged for the Environmental Protection Department to add 5 trash bins on site. The sweating volunteers earnestly reminded players to maintain civic responsibility and keep Beitou Park beautiful.
