Beitou\'s unique hot spring terrain has long been known as the "Home of Witches." To highlight Beitou\'s local character, the 2016 Beitou Yukata Festival - Yukata Design Awards, co-hosted by the Taipei City Dept. of Commerce and Taipei Hot Spring Development Association, adopted "Beitou Witch Style" as its design theme. This not only introduces the public to the origin of Beitou\'s name but also encourages incorporating magical elements into yukata designs to create exclusive yukata that showcase Beitou\'s unique character.Taipei City Dept. of Economic Development Deputy Director Wang San-Chung stated that the Xinbeitou Hot Spring Commercial District is a benchmark for the city. Building on its unique hot spring culture, the district develops industry characteristics and links surrounding attractions to form a tourism network, creating Beitou\'s distinctive tourism image. Visitors can experience traditional bathing culture and appreciate Beitou\'s hot spring heritage and yukata beauty without leaving Taiwan.
2016 Beitou Yukata Festival Design Awards 1st Place Ceremony
Taipei Hot Spring Development Association Chairperson Chou Shui-Mei stated that the Yukata Design Awards attracted nearly 100 participants. Through preliminary screening, 40 finalists were selected. On the final day, models showcased each contestant\'s creative designs on stage. Ultimately, Hung Ting-Ya\'s "Diva" - featuring gold lamé with sheer fabric for a mysterious allure, combined with a three-piece fashion layering concept - stood out to claim first place.
In addition to watching the exciting yukata design finals and fashion show on October 23, visitors can participate in a series of rich activities from the 2016 Taipei Hot Spring Festival including exhibitions, parades, yukata experiences, and more.
