Pokemon Go Aftermath: Beitou Park Cleans Up Over 100kg of Trash

The mobile game Pokemon Go is all the rage. Recently, Beitou Park has become a popular hunting ground due to frequent appearances of rare Pokemon, drawing massive crowds that left the surrounding environment littered, angering local residents. To maintain the Beitou Hot Spring area and Beitou Park surroundings, Taipei Hot Spring Development Association Chairperson Chou Shui-Mei organized a cleanup with village chiefs Chen Chang-Sheng and Chen Li-Chang, hotel operators, and city parks department staff, covering Beitou Park, both sides of Beitou Creek, and Guangming and Zhongshan Roads near landmarks.

Over 100 kilograms of trash were collected, mostly plastic bottles, utensils, and tissue paper. To ensure visitors always enjoy a clean environment and beautiful scenery, the Hot Spring Association has arranged for the Environmental Protection Department to add 5 trash bins in the area.

Massive crowds left the surrounding area littered

The Hot Spring Association stated that Beitou Park has recently become a hotspot for Pokemon Go, attracting many trainers. Nearby businesses welcome visitors to explore the Xinbeitou commercial district, but the traffic congestion and trash brought by the crowds have caused some inconvenience to local residents. The Association urges Pokemon trainers to remember "keep trash off the ground" while enjoying the game - aim your trash into bins as accurately as your Poke Balls! (Reporter Chang Po-Ting / Taipei)
