Tel: +886-2-2720-8889 ext. 6503 / 4563To shape the brand identity of Beitou's commercial district, the Taipei City Department of Economic Development has guided the Taipei Hot Springs Development Association to hold the "2026 Beitou Summer Festival – Fish Leaping Over the Dragon Gate Music Party" from May 29 to June 21, 2026. Now in its second year following last year's great success, the event draws on the resonance between Japan's traditional Dragon Boat Festival custom of hanging carp streamers (こいのぼり, koinobori) and the Chinese cultural idiom of "a carp leaping over the dragon gate." Over a thousand carp streamers will be displayed around Beitou Park, Qixing Park, and the Hell Valley (Direhgu) area, creating a distinctly Japanese summer atmosphere that differs from the autumn and winter seasons. The opening ceremony on May 29 features the beloved Nakashi-style classic cuisine banquet, and on Saturday evening, May 30, the well-known band "Little Boys Band (小男孩樂團)" will perform live. Weekend events throughout the festival include pop music concerts, a Nakashi singing competition, and a family-friendly outdoor cinema with picnics. This year, visitors will also be invited into hot spring hotels for creative hands-on workshops. During the festival, simply download the exclusive stamp-collecting APP, make purchases at member stores or on-site market stalls, and visit Beitou's featured attractions to participate in the stamp rally lottery, with chances to win accommodation vouchers, hot spring coupons, and more. As the year approaches its midpoint, it is the perfect time to review goals and adjust our pace. Led by President Chou Shui-mei of the Taiwan Commercial District Culture Tourism Industry Federation, five major industry associations held a grand joint appreciation banquet on the evening of May 25 at the Han來 Grand Hotel Taipei. Distinguished guests gathered in force; President Lai Ching-te sent a calligraphic inscription and a floral basket as a gesture of goodwill. Former Premier Su Tseng-chang, Director-General of the Department of Commerce Su Wen-ling, and Taipei Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua all attended in person to offer their congratulations. Member representatives from the five organizations — the Taiwan Commercial District Culture Tourism Industry Federation, the Taipei Commercial District Industry Federation, the Taipei Hot Spring Development Association, the Taiwan Asia-Pacific International Hot Spring Tourism Association, and the Taipei Hotel Industry Development Association — gathered together, demonstrating remarkable unity and solidarity.

Introduction to "The Wishing Goddess"The historical setting of this play is fictionally set during the Liu Song Dynasty, a period rarely explored in theatrical works, yet it was the first dynasty of the Southern Dynasties during the Northern and Southern Dynasties period in Chinese history. An interesting character in the play, "Gu Wan-Fu," connects to the playwright's concept of the "God of Poverty," weaving a futile bargain - three incense sticks to grant three wishes. But this is the God of Poverty, presiding over "poverty, illness, suffering, loneliness, and widowhood" - can these three wishes truly be fulfilled? Fulfilling one brings misfortune to another. What strange events transpire between Gu Wan-Fu and the God of Poverty? "The Wishing Goddess" refuses to view poverty through worldly eyes. There are far too many mysteries in the universe beyond human control, and through layer upon layer of story development, you will come to understand the true rewards between giving and receiving, and between destitution and poverty.
